Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a new two-lane bridge in the Taramandal area of Gorakhpur on Tuesday. During the event, he said people should also take responsibility for protecting public infrastructure and development projects.
The 112-metre-long bridge has been built by the Gorakhpur Development Authority at a cost of ₹4.33 crore. The bridge connects two parts of the Taramandal locality that were earlier divided by a water body.
Focus on Development and Better Connectivity
After inspecting the bridge, the Chief Minister addressed a public gathering. He said Gorakhpur has changed rapidly since 2017. According to him, earlier the city was known for insecurity, mafia activities, and encephalitis cases. He also said investors avoided the city, and many young people faced difficulties in finding jobs.
However, he added that the situation has now improved completely. The CM said more than 50,000 youths have received job opportunities through industries set up in GIDA. He also spoke about better road connectivity, AIIMS, the revived fertiliser plant, sugar mill projects, tourism development near Ramgarh Tal, and improvements in education and infrastructure.
Taramandal Area Seeing Fast Growth
Speaking about the Taramandal area, Yogi Adityanath said people earlier avoided settling there because of flooding and lack of facilities. But now, the area has become one of the most developed and expensive residential locations in the city. He added that the new bridge will improve internal connectivity and make travel easier for local residents.
Plans for Tourism and Recreation
The Chief Minister also directed officials to develop the nearby water body similar to Ramgarh Tal. He suggested adding boating and recreational facilities for families and children. During the visit, Yogi Adityanath also interacted with labourers who worked on the bridge project. At the same event, Ravi Kishan praised the Chief Minister’s leadership and said Gorakhpur has become a model for planned urban development.
