Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will extend further to Mussoorie. This plan aims to reduce traffic in Dehradun and improve travel for tourists and daily commuters.

    Key Road Projects Near Completion

Mr. Gadkari also shared that a 51 km 6 lane road from Saharanpur Bypass to Haridwar will open in June. In addition, several highway projects across Uttarakhand are close to completion, which will further improve connectivity in the region.

The Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India highlighted that projects worth ₹1.3 lakh crore have started in Uttarakhand. Out of this, projects worth ₹25,000 crore have already been completed. Moreover, work worth ₹35,000 crore is currently in progress, while plans for projects worth ₹80,000 crore are ready.

    Focus on Connectivity and Safety

On the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route, a 370 km road from Tanakpur to Pithoragarh and Lipulekh is under construction. Around 200 km is already complete, and the remaining work may be finished within a year.

As per ET Infra, the government is preparing a landslide mitigation plan with the help of a Switzerland based institute and local experts. Authorities have approved ₹4,300 crore for 296 projects. Work on accident prone black spots has also been completed with an investment of ₹907 crore.

More Road Developments in the Region

Gadkari said the Paonta Sahib–Dehradun four-lane road will become operational soon. Meanwhile, the Haridwar greenfield bypass phase-1 may be completed by October 2026.

In addition, bypass projects in Rudrapur and Kashipur will be completed by October this year and by December 2026. The Dehradun–Jhajhra elevated road may finish next year, while the Bhaniyawala–Jollygrant–Rishikesh road is expected by 2028.

He also said that 640 km of the 825 km Char Dham Road Project has already been completed. Work on the Rudraprayag–Gaurikund stretch will likely begin by December 2026. Overall, these developments show a strong push to improve road connectivity in Uttarakhand. The planned extension to Mussoorie, along with multiple ongoing and upcoming projects, will make travel faster and more comfortable.
