NH-752D Corridor to Link Ujjain & Delhi–Mumbai Expressway

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Narendra Modi, approved a ₹3,839.42 crore highway project in Madhya Pradesh. Authorities will construct a four-lane corridor between Badnawar and Timarwani. The project involves building a four-lane corridor between Badnawar and Timarwani.

    Route Coverage

The plan includes upgrading an 80.45 km stretch of National Highway 752D that connects Badnawar, Petlawad, Thandla and Timarwani. After completion, the road will link Ujjain with the Timarwani interchange of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. Officials said the upgraded corridor will reduce travel time on the route by nearly one hour.

The highway corridor will pass through tribal areas in Dhar and Jhabua districts of Madhya Pradesh. Parts of Dhar district fall under the NITI Aayog Aspirational Blocks Programme.

    6 Bridges And 9 Underpasses

The corridor will include six major bridges and 34 minor bridges along the route. The project will also have one road under bridge. Authorities will construct nine vehicle underpasses, 29 light vehicle underpasses and four small vehicle underpasses as part of the highway design.

    Hybrid Annuity Constrution Model

Construction of the highway is expected to take 24 months. The government will implement the project under the hybrid annuity model. The concession period is set at 17 years, including two years for construction and 15 years for operation and maintenance. Officials said the project will strengthen regional connectivity and support economic activity in Dhar and Jhabua districts.

    Traffic Improvements

The Badnawar–Timarwani stretch currently operates as an intermediate-lane road. Due to limited road geometry, vehicles move at speeds between 20 kmph and 50 kmph. Upgrading the road to a four-lane highway will allow speeds of 80–100 kmph. The project will also create a continuous four-lane connection between Ujjain and the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway interchange.

    Regional Connectivity

The corridor forms part of the shortest route connecting Gujarat and Maharashtra with Ujjain. Authorities said the upgraded road will help manage higher traffic volumes.

Traffic is expected to increase during the Simhastha Kumbh Mela scheduled in April 2028. Improved connectivity will also support freight movement and strengthen links with industrial hubs and logistics centres in Indore, Pithampur, Ujjain and Dewas.
