Long-pending Bypass Project Moves Forward to Ease Traffic

The Uttar Pradesh Government has finally approved the long-delayed Behran bypass project in Agra. This approval includes a 3.95 km bypass, with Rs 8.86 crore released as the first installment. The bypass is expected to benefit over 100 villages by improving connectivity and easing traffic congestion.

The total project cost is estimated at Rs 25.33 crore. It includes the construction of a 3.95 km, 7-metre-wide bypass designed in line with traffic and safety regulations. It aims to provide relief from congestion currently affecting local roads.

    Route Alignment and Key Villages

The proposed bypass will pass through Nagla Taj, Bas Boria, Nagla Gol, and Nagla Dheer. It will link directly with the Jalesar Highway, improving access between surrounding settlements and major routes.

Planned with a width of 7 metres, the bypass will offer an alternative corridor for heavy vehicles. This diversion is expected to reduce congestion within populated areas and support smoother traffic movement.

    Safer Travel and Shorter Journeys

Officials expect the new road to improve overall road safety while cutting travel time for daily commuters using this stretch. Beyond easing travel, the bypass is projected to strengthen regional connectivity and support economic activity. Better movement of goods and people is expected to create opportunities for local businesses and industries.

    Infrastructure Push by State Government

The approval of the Berhan bypass reflects the state government’s focus on infrastructure development. Authorities have assured the project will be completed within the approved timeframe, with attention to safety standards and construction quality.

    Local Leadership Welcomes Decision

BJP MLA Dr Dharmpal Singh welcomed the project, stating it would benefit over 100 villages and significantly improve regional connectivity. He said the bypass reflects the government’s efforts to strengthen infrastructure and improve transport movement.
