Four New Stations To Improve Public Transport Accessibility

DMRC has proposed a Golden Line extension to boost urban mobility in South and South-East Delhi. Once implemented, the Golden Line extension is expected to reduce travel times. It also aims to improve public transport access across South and South-East Delhi.

The expansion aims to ease daily travel by improving last-mile connectivity and reducing dependence on congested roads. DMRC officials said the corridor will make access to public transport easier for many daily commuters.

Tughlakabad–Kalindi Kunj stretch detailed

Under the proposal, the Tughlakabad–Kalindi Kunj section will span 3.9 km and be fully elevated. This design is intended to allow smoother and quicker metro operations along the route.

The new stretch will feature four stations: Tughlakabad, Sarita Vihar Depot, Madanpur Khadar and Kalindi Kunj. These stations are expected to improve metro access for nearby residential areas. At the same time, they will better connect them with commercial zones and existing transport networks.

Direct Link to Yamuna Riverfront

A key aspect of the extension is its direct access to the Yamuna riverfront through the Kalindi Kunj section. This is expected to improve connectivity to recreational areas and nearby transit points.

By encouraging commuters to shift from private vehicles to the metro, the corridor is likely to ease road congestion. As a result, it may also help lower vehicular emissions. The project supports DMRC’s wider goal of promoting sustainable, low-carbon, and environment-friendly urban transport.
